Prescribed Burning
In managing wildfire threat on a governmental level using prescribed burning techniques, liability is extremely important to consider. Prescribed burns are an accepted management practice and there are laws in place controlling the procedure, but enormous liability still exists for the forest service because fires can damage homes. Better predictive power about how fires behave or will behave will be useful in avoiding costly litigation.
